TRAVEL DIARIES: Our Sweetest Escapes

Discovering new places is one of the things I am most passionate about. I love going on travel adventures and I love writing about them just as much.

While the pandemic may have derailed our plans and set us back for a good couple of years with our travel goals, I'm so happy that we've finally started brewing up some travel plans again to explore some new destinations soon.

This isn't a full list of all our travels together, but on this blog I try my best to document most of our adventures, so that when we grow old and gray, we'll have some nice photos to look at and some sort of diary to read that can hopefully help us relive those adventures once again. Happy or sad, I think it's always nice to bring back the best memories of your life.

If Covid taught me anything, it has to be the realization that the world is so big and life is just way too short. There's definitely an adventure waiting for you take on just right around the corner. So let's have fun and hoard more memories while we still can.

Girl Crush: Emma Watson x Hermione Granger

Hermione Granger has got to be one of my favorite characters in both the Harry Potter book and film franchise. I super love and admire smart girls who go after what they want and stand bravely for what they believe in. She loves to read and she's very loyal to her friends, and I have come to love Emma Watson (the actress who played the role) through the years just as well. I am in awe witnessing how her style has evolved, and she's truly grown to become one of the most stylish and sensible actresses of her generation.

In one of her interviews for the movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Emma shared why she loved playing the role of Hermione: "I feel very privileged to have played Hermione. I think she's someone young girls can look up to because she's always true to herself. She's very smart and an incredibly courageous and loyal friend who keeps a cool head in extremely difficult situations. It was wonderful to be able to bring across those elements of her personality throughout the films."

Here's to every empowered girl all over the world who dares to live her dreams while keeping everything cool and even managing to be in style.

Who's your favorite character in Harry Potter?

About me

Hello! My name is Aizzing (pronounced as icing  yes, that sweet creamy glaze of frosting on top of your favorite cake) and I'm a Filipina book nerd, part-time explorer and full-time media dork currently based in Dubai. I've been married for five years to the very nice guy I dated for over seven years. His name is Marlo and he also shares my insatiable passion for travelling, good food, and zombie apocalypse movies so you'll be seeing him a lot in this space too.

Icing & Write is my online vision board, lifestyle and travel diary, with focus on content that's big on adventure and inspiration. We have over 8,500 followers across our social media and blog reader accounts, and I am absolutely thrilled that you found your way here. This space gives you colorful sneak peeks of our globe-trotting adventures and daily life in the desert. It's a personally curated collection of our sweetest dreams, utterly pretty discoveries, creative stories, and amazingly wonderful people who continuously inspire us to live our best and happy life.

I've been online for as long as I can remember and have kept several blogs for just as long. I started pouring my thoughts and experiences over several blogging platforms such as Geocities, Blogdrive, Wordpress, Multiply, and also LiveJournal since I was a teenager. But after making the big move from Manila to Dubai beginning of 2011, I wanted a new place online where I can post about my daily adventures here in the Middle East for my family and friends to read back home in the Philippines. That's when I decided to start anew with Icing and Write. From posting merely about my brandnew life here in the desert to my noob attempts with baking, this blog has become my creative outlet and eventually evolved into what it is now.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
As of 20th March 2018, please note that I have stopped accepting all forms of paid sponsorship and collaborations. I have decided to go back to my roots and bring back the fun into this space by posting at my own pace and writing solely about the things I love with an honest voice. My goal is to focus on making this space my creative outlet as I have originally envisioned it to be, improve my writing, and hopefully come up with a blog that my older self and possible kids will be happier to read in the future. Thank you to all the amazing brands and bloggers I have had the chance to work with all these years.
