We’re almost at the last chapter of Ramadan this year, and while I would definitely miss the shorter office timing and much more relaxed pace of things this past month, I cannot wait for the very long Eid holiday that’s just waiting right around the corner for all of us.
Are you planning for a peaceful staycation or actually packing your bags to head out of town?
Whether you intend to get that well-deserved break at home or overseas, here’s a nice little throwback to five of our best travel adventures for some inspiration. We’ve actually taken most of these fun trips during past Eid breaks and long weekends we’ve had over the years here in Dubai.
A lot of people I know are flocking to Bali right now for Eid—and honestly, who could blame them? Touted as the world’s top go-to destination (especially by millennials), it’s easy to see why. Think lush tropical landscapes, postcard-worthy beaches, and a vibe that screams serenity. For every beach bum and nature lover seeking a sweet escape from the chaos of city life, Bali is basically paradise on tap.
Thailand
But just imagining the sheer crowd moving in the same direction as me is enough to overwhelm my introverted soul and send it quietly crying for help. So why not escape to good ol’ Thailand for the same dreamy 'feels'? Then again… Thailand is a top tourist hotspot too, so maybe there's no real way to dodge the crowd. But here’s the good news—you’ll still win either way. You can always venture beyond Bangkok and soak in the quiet magic of places like Phuket, Ko Samui, Pattaya, the Phi Phi Islands, or my personal favorite, Chiang Mai—a soulful breather that feels like a gentle exhale.
And one more thing—the hospitality of the Thai people is truly something else. They’re warm, gracious, and effortlessly charming. I genuinely love them to bits. Still, if we’re ranking hospitality, Filipinos are in a league of their own (love your own of course)—Thailand comes in a close second with honors!
How many hours is the flight from Dubai to Bangkok? Around 6 hours and 30 minutes if you are flying direct.
Armenia
Yerevan has remained a favorite getaway for UAE travelers for well over two years now—and it's easy to understand why. We booked a local tour guide on our first visit back in 2018, and the entire experience was nothing short of unforgettable. I fell in love with Armenia’s rich history, vibrant wines, and incredibly fresh cuisine.
The best part? Despite being surprisingly affordable, every moment in this colorful country felt wonderfully indulgent. With so many sights and stories to uncover, it never once felt like we were cutting corners. The memories we made there were priceless—like a million-dollar escape wrapped in warmth and meaning.
It may have been one of the shortest trips we’ve ever taken together, but it's undoubtedly one of the most meaningful.
The Netherlands
Amsterdam was our first stop during our maiden Euro trip back in 2017—and to this day, it remains our most memorable and relaxing adventure. While iconic landmarks like the Iamsterdam letters at Museumplein have since been relocated, the city’s rich cultural landscape, particularly its many museums (the Van Gogh Museum is a personal favorite), and its effortlessly laid-back vibe still make me dream of returning someday
In recent years, Amsterdam has made a conscious effort to pull back from promoting itself heavily as a tourist destination. Sadly, the city—and its kind locals—have borne the brunt of mass tourism, with its effects leaving real imprints on their everyday life. I still remember our canal cruise tour guide passionately sharing how some residents feel disheartened by the influx of tourists who come simply to party, disrupting the city's peace and quiet rhythm.

How many hours is the flight from Dubai to Amsterdam? More or less 7 hours if you are flying direct.
Georgia
This enchanting city will forever hold a special place in my heart. Back in 2013, Georgia became the backdrop for so many unforgettable firsts—my first snowfall, my first birthday away from family (hello, independent woman!), and most memorably, the moment I was officially bitten by the travel bug.
Tbilisi didn’t just mark milestones—it sparked something within me. And I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.
My passion for adventures—and the thrill of discovering new places, cultures, and experiences—all began with a long weekend in Georgia. Their tagline, “the city that loves you,” couldn’t be more accurate. Georgia didn’t just welcome me; it made me feel seen, embraced, and inspired.
From what I’ve heard, a lot has changed and improved since our visit more than five years ago. So maybe it’s time we go back—to relive the magic and create new memories in the city that started it all.

Morocco
Without a doubt, our trip to Marrakesh in Morocco during Eid 2016 was the most exotic and exhilarating vacation we’ve ever had. Every night felt like stepping into a living tapestry of music, laughter, and vibrant energy—thanks to our decision to stay right in the heart of it all, at Jemaa El-Fnaa.
As Marrakesh’s central square, it's a pulsing crossroads where locals and travelers converge. From the hypnotic rhythms of street performers to the tantalizing aroma of sizzling street food, every moment was a celebration of life. Staying there didn’t just place us near the action—it immersed us in it.
The vibe of Marrakesh is unlike anything we've experienced anywhere else—intensely authentic, mesmerizingly raw, and alive in every sense of the word. That energy translated into one uniquely unforgettable adventure that has stayed with me through the years.
If there’s one place that deserves a spot on your lifetime travel list, it’s this. You’ve got to come and experience it for yourself—at least once. Trust me, it’ll leave a mark in the best way possible.
Where we stayed in Marakkesh: Riad Granvilier
How many hours is the flight from Dubai to Marrakesh? There are no direct flights to Marrakesh from Dubai, but a direct flight to its nearby city Casablanca takes a little over 8 hours. From there you can either fly, drive, or board a train to Marrakesh. Travel time from Casablanca would take between 1 to 4 hours depending on the transport you’d choose.
Enjoy the long holiday and hope we all come back inspired, recharged and ready for more adventures and challenges ahead.

Nice post! I and my wife had a hard time finalizing a place to visit in December. Although Eid will be coming next year, the places that you suggested in your blog might just help us finalize one single place to visit and explore. That is Dubai. I heard that the weather gets really good during winters in Dubai and there are a lot of events lined up during December. Now, all I need to do is apply for a Dubai Visa Online as soon as possible.
